Meet the Consultant

Sharese Porter is a public health professional and Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) with years of experience in her field.  She has been a community health educator, organizer, and advocate; faculty member involved in the professional development and mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students; program and grant administrator; and presenter. Her career is driven by her commitment to a more equitable society and culturally responsive approaches to evaluate program effectiveness. Dr. Porter’s areas of expertise include program evaluation, health education, organizational health literacy, community engagement, and research related to neighborhood effects on health.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health and Sociology from Rutgers University, a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Community Health Education from Temple University, and PhD in Urban Systems with a concentration in Urban Health from Rutgers University (formerly the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Nursing).    Dr. Porter is the Founder and Principal of Porter-Crown Associates, LLC (PCA), a public health consultancy that assists non-profit, public, private, and academic organizations with program planning, implementation, and evaluation as well as advisement in the development of community-centered research and communication strategies. The range of specialized areas include health equity, health literacy for organizations, projects at the intersection of urban health, education, and environment, focus group development and implementation, workforce-training, and in-services.

Although her personal and professional roots were cultivated in urban environments, she supports communities and organizations wherever disparities exist- to partner, collaborate, leverage assets, and empower those she works with to experience growth and foster systemic change.
